Terminal freezes

Has anyone ever experienced the terminal freezing? Usually when connected to a remote machine? I've been noticing this for the past few months. At first I thought it was a Terminator terminal bug. But, I started using the default Gnome terminal and it is happening in Gnome terminal also. I can usually open a new tab and all is well. I'm using Korora 25 Gnome edition.

I did a search and couldn't see any recent reports.

Have you checked the logs after it happens? Run journalctl -r. If you want to post the output use fpaste and post the link here.

Does just the terminal freeze but the rest of the desktop is okay?

Also have you tested in X rather than Wayland? There is an option to start in Xorg when you log in.

Okay, I'll take a look at journalctl. Desktop doesn't freeze, just that ssh session. I can even open a new tab in terminal and all is well. It's really weird. It isn't even consistent in that it doesn't happen on the same ssh session to the same remote machine. It's random. Luckily, it hasn't happened again in the past few days.

As it is ssh could it be a network issue and the terminal isn't actually freezing but just waiting for the network?

Maybe. This is from a virtual machine running on a enterprise level hypervisor on a enterprise network. It's hard to believe it would be network related since there are no other reports of network issues on our LAN. I'll keep monitoring if this happens on sessions to remote machines on the LAN or across the WAN to see if there is any consistency there and any network related issues.
